For a fast-growing marketing-technology company based in the UK, we were looking for an experienced SW Engineering Manager to lead an international team of up to 20 developers, mostly working remotely from the Czech Republic.
We were responsible for the complete recruitment process — from defining the position profile, through sourcing and pre-selection of candidates, to successfully filling the role in close cooperation with the client’s CTO.
The position was originally to be located in the company’s London headquarters, but the majority of the development team was working remotely from the Czech Republic. It was therefore necessary to re-evaluate the location and organizational setup of the entire role and find a candidate who would be able to manage the international team remotely.
In cooperation with the CTO, we moved the role to the Czech Republic and enabled its fully remote form. Based on this, we prepared a targeted list of experienced Engineering Managers with relevant experience, technical background and excellent English.
After presenting more than 15 high-quality candidates, the client selected a professional with a strong technical background, international experience from startups, and a good cultural fit with the team. In the first year, the new manager proved to be a key support for the team and the company’s management.
